What is Finasteride?
Among other uses, Finasteride is used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) in men, a condition that develops in up to 80% of Caucasian men.
In the United States, Finasteride is one of only two FDA approved drugs for the treatment of male pattern hair loss as of 2017.
Treatment with Finasteride slows further hair loss and provides about 30% improvement in hair loss after six months of treatment, with effectiveness persisting as long as the drug is taken.
Taking Finasteride leads to a reduction in scalp and serum DHT levels; by lowering scalp levels of DHT, Finasteride can maintain or increase the number of terminal hairs in the anagen phase by inhibiting and sometimes reversing miniaturization of the hair follicle.
Finasteride 1 mg tablets effectively treat androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss).
How Does Finasteride Work?
Male pattern hair loss in men is frequently due to genetic hypersensitivity to the DHT (dihydrotestosterone) hormone, which can cause damage to hair follicles and consequently lead to hair loss.
Finasteride hair loss treatment blocks production and consequently reduces levels of this hormone within the body. The reduction of DHT levels can reduce hair loss and may reverse balding by encouraging re-growth of hair.
Most men (9 out of 10) find that Finasteride 1 mg Tablets improve their hair loss within 3 to 6 months of commencing treatment.
The recommended dosage of Finasteride is one tablet per day for as long as required (usually 3 – 6 months).
Finasteride 1m Tablets are exclusively for adult men and MUST NOT be taken by women and children. In addition, crushed or broken tablets MUST NOT be handled by pregnant women.
